Quantity: 100 grams

Jamila needs 3-4 hours for dye release for hair use, and 12-24 hours for body art use.

How much you will need depends on your hair length, and thickness. This will give you a generally idea of how much you’ll need for 1 application:

Above ear length: 50-75 grams

Shoulder length: 100-125 grams

Bra strap length or mid-back: 150-175 grams

Lower back (above hips): 200 to 225 grams

Hip/Waist length: 250 to 300 grams

Stevie's regimen and recipe: "I have been coloring my hair “red” with all natural henna for almost 6 years now. I used to have dirty blond going brown hair and it was always a long tangled mess (my hair used to be a little more than half way down my back). Now my hair is so soft and shiny, plus I love the color. The shade and brightness of color depend on how long I leave it in as well the lighting of the day. .

-Use 2 boxes of henna powder. Typically Jamila. -Mix boiling water into powder until brownie batter consistency. -Mix in 3-5 drops of Lavender essential oil. -Leave to cool between 45 mins -1 hour. -With gloves I apply to head in handfuls starting at the roots and covering them as best as possible while moving to the ends. -Pile all hair on top of head and wipe off any excess from skin on forehead, ears, neck… -Wrap with plastic cap and let sit for 3-4 hours minimum."

Jamila for hair needs 3-4 hours for dye release for hair use.

Jamila henna powder comes in two varieties.

Summer Crop BAQ: This quality is used by professional henna artists, and is very popular amongst natural hair care lovers. This henna powder is the most finely sifted of the two varieties of Jamila henna powder available, and contains the best leaves of the henna plant that contain the most dye content. It also is so creamy it washes out easily from your hair. It currently comes infoil packaging that is marked in red writing "premium quality JAMILA henna 2011" and dye content is now marked. It comes inside a shiny Jamila henna box.

Henna for Hair: This henna comes packaged inside a clear cellophane package, inside of a sealed, plain Jamila box that is marked inside with "Henna for Hair". There will be no date marked on the box. The sift is a lesser quality, but still much better then store bought quality henna powders. The henna leaves chosen for this quality are from leaves that are lower on the henna plant. The dye content is not as high as the premium quality Jamila henna. It is popular for hair usage. This is a pure henna powder, but it is unfairly named body art quality, when in fact no henna artist would use it for body art. So it's not a true body art quality henna powder.

    Incredible Product

I added amla powder to this henna product and indigo afterwards as a base before my full indigo application. I achieved almost black results. It is absolutely beautiful and doesn't stain the tub. It never messed up my bathroom. I left it on my hair for 4 hours before applying pure indigo. This was my first time using henna indigo to color my hair black. I had no side effects- only beautiful hair.

Best henna for bright ginger hair!

I have tried Red Raj (too dark) and a few other brands of henna. Nothing gives the intense ginger copper colour that Jamila gives. It's a great application. Washes out well with a soak and a couple of conditioner rinses. Hair is super shiny and vibrant. I get so many compliments on my hair colour. I wish I could share a photo :) Thank you Hennasooq for awesome Canada service!

    Love this product and colour

Posted by Nicole on 28th Dec 2013

I'm a fairly new user of henna, and after a lot of research I decided to order from henna sooq. I'm a brunette with about 20% grey hair who got tired of paying a fortune at the hairdressers every 6 weeks, plus my scalp was not happy with the dyeing process. At first I tried the 1 step process with the jamila and indigo, and the colour was lovely, but the grey came through faster than I would have liked. Then I switched to the 2 step process. It lasts longer - 5 weeks or so, which is fine by me and I have red "highlights" (previous grey) which look cool. I also use Amla with the jamila to keep my curl pattern. I think the jamila/Amla rinses out fairly easily, my final rinse is also a half and half mixture of acv and water. ( I should also mention I went "no poo" about a year ago.) My hair feels thicker and healthier after henna, and my scalp feels great too. I love the colour and different tones in my hair.

    first time henna user

Henna mixed up nice and smooth and resulted in a perfectly acceptable colour. Unfortunately, after many soaks and rinses in the past 48+ hours, there is still henna left in my hair! Initially, hair was dry like straw; however, texture was greatly improved after using a conditioning product. Note from Henna Sooq: Sometimes, you need to do a conditioning rinse to get all the henna out of your hair. Henna does tend to dry out the hair, and it is always recommended to use a good moisturizer after a henna treatment. Thank you for your feedback.
